Bunny Muses

Since 2013 house rabbits have been sharing my home and providing my muse – both photographically and for my writing. They are full of entertaining exploits and expressions, judging me from the corner of the room, or from under the shelter of my tables, and chairs.

Smudge posing in a cardboard shelter.

Smudge my black beauty was my first bunny who came to me in November 2013 aged 6 months. She inspired both stories and photography with her unhesitant curiosity and confidence. When I stretch out on the floor to edit and plan my writing she would settle down to snooze alongside me, keen for a fuss or just to be close to me. Sadly, I lost Smudge in October 2020 due to ill health, but she will live long in my memory and photographs.

Bart dozing.

Bart was a timid, occasionally grumpy, gentleman who came to me in October 2014 aged 6 months. Bart was the rabbit who first taught me that they are not quiet creatures, often growling at me when he thought I was reaching for a fuss, or snooping quietly from under the chair/ keyboard as he had his mid-afternoon doze. The most beautiful, relaxing, sound I would hear whilst writing/ editing. He and Smudge had a tumultuous but loving relationship and he clearly missed the companionship when she passed. I lost him suddenly and unexpectedly in July 2021, a gorgeous boy who left a heartbroken bun-wife Hysenthlay behind.

Hysenthlay is a stunning Otter coloured bunny who came to me at the age of three in November 2021 a perfect partner for Bart. Images of Hysenthlay are not yet available for sale, but this is soon to be rectified.

Teddy relaxing in the sunshine

Teddy was a two and a half year old bun who came to me in September 2017. He made a glorious third with Smudge and Bart, enjoying snuggles, sunny resting spots and hiding in the curtains.

Comfortable Jackson

Jackson is a half giant (possibly half cat) bunny who joined Hysenthlay and myself in October 2021. Intended as a partner for Hysenthlay, they have not as yet successfully bonded and are currently living apart – though it is hoped that with a long term strategy this may be resolved. Images of Jackson are not yet available for sale, but this is soon to be rectified.
